This workshop is run by the States of Jersey Prison Service and aims to teach students to :
To be able to recognise certain well known illegal drugs – know their names (including some slang names), know what they look like, their classification, how they are taken, and their effects both pleasant and harmful.
To understand that illegal drugs have different classifications dependent upon the harm they cause.
To understand the meaning of words and terms used in the Misuse of Drugs (Jersey) Law 1978.
The workshop is highly interactive, using worksheets and also a drugs kit so students can see what each drug looks like. This workshop continues to evolve as new drugs come on the market, in particular lately Legal Highs have been a key topic to cover within the session.
